Laura Whittard the schools' founder began her career as a performer and after a successful career in theatre realised a long-term ambition and opened her first weekend theatre arts school in Tewkesbury in the autumn of 2001 before going onto open schools in Cheltenham, Gloucester and finally Swindon. Miss Whittard's passion for theatre, commitment to her pupils and innovative teaching methods have led to a successfull environment for all who visit, teach and learn at a Hampstead Factory School. Miss Whittard continues to perform in regional theatre when time permits and looks forward to opening a small scale theatre company in the next year that regional actors and Hampstead Factory students can benefit from.
