Money Raised For Winston's Wish

INFO - MONEY RAISED FOR WINSTON'S WISH

Well done for all the fantastic Autumn shows that took place in all schools on the weekend 28/29th November. Not only did you all show dedication and commitment to your work but there were some great characters shown (especially the scary Ms Hannigan's!) and brilliant performances created. You helped to raise a staggering £200 for Winston's Wish. Thank you to all youngsters for taking part and all those of you who came to watch and donate, especially in these credit crunch times.

How You've Helped:

A child in Britain is bereaved of a parent every 22 minutes - this equates to over 24,000 newly bereaved children each and every year. Studies show that if childhood grief is not dealt with appropriately it can have a deep and lasting negative effect on a child's emotional well-being and cause problems later in life.

Winston's Wish are the UK's leading childhood bereavement charity and believe that bereaved children need support to make sense of death and rebuild their lives. They work with them and their families, giving them practical tools to enable the children and young people to grow into confident, resilient adults and face the future with hope.

They depend on voluntary donations from people like you to support them.

Can I Do More?

This Christmas Winston's Wish, the leading childhood bereavement charity in the UK, is encouraging everyone to 'Wish Upon a Star' to celebrate the life of someone special to them.

It is a time for coming together, making memories, and looking forward to the new year. Help them raise funds this Christmas by taking part in Wish Upon a Star. Getting involved couldn't be easier.

  • Create your own Memory Tree, we will provide special Winston's Wish stars on which messages can be written and put on your tree when a donation is made.
  • Or you could display a unique Winston's Wish Starscape - a poster featuring the Wish Upon a Star night sky on which special star-shaped stickers can be stuck, with messages to loved ones or wishes for the future written on them. We will provide special sticker cards, with two stickers on each - one to be stuck on the Starscape and the other for the star-writer to wear with pride! We suggest every star-writer is asked to make a minimum donation of £1.
  • You can also come up with your own Wish Upon a Star event or activity. It could be baking star-shaped cookies, dressing up as your favourite 'star' for the day, or asking people to guess the number of stars in the jar. We'd love to hear your ideas!

Want to get involved? Here's how.

To request one of our very special Wish Upon a Star Packs, contact the Winston's Wish fundraising team today or you can create your own activities for a Wish Upon a Star fundraising event, so get your imagination working - the sky is the limit!
